It seems that Team Lotus design chief, Mike Gascoyne may have brought more than just his ideas to the British-based, Malaysian-funded team and his former employer, Force India's Vijay Mallya is not amused

According to Force India, some ideas for aerodynamics may have been leaked out of their engineering contractor Aerolab.

Force India had terminated their contract with Italian-registered Aerolab after suspecting leaks, or rather, breaches of confidentiality.

This new development means that Team Lotus is facing two important court dates in the coming months, on top of worrying about race weekends

We hope that the legal battles will not overshadow the trackside thrust and parry.

Team Lotus is also facing another court date with Group Lotus over the disputed use of the Lotus  name.

Force India and Team Lotus will come face to face in the High Court in January of next year after a date was set for the dispute over intellectual property rights, which also involves aerodynamic design firm Aerolab.

Last summer Vijay Mallya’s Force India launched court proceedings in both the UK and Italy against Team Lotus’s parent company 1Malaysia, its technical chief Mike Gascoyne and Aerolab after suspecting that their rival team may have used their intellectual property in the design of the Lotus T127.
